Harry A. Brooks, a former Decorah resident, died March 31 at the Iowa Soldiers Home in Marshalltown at the age of 77. He was born in Decorah and had been employed as a barber here.
Funeral services were held at Steine Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock with burial in the Freeport Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clifford Anderson, Leo Broghammer, Robert Brown, Ray O'Brien, Elmer Evenson and Charles Miller. Pastor Al Houts conducted the services, Mr. Brooks was born July 25, 1896, the son of Charles and Alice Brooks. He was educated in the public schools and attended barber college. He was a veteran of World War I and besides Decorah he had lived in California. He became a resident of the Soldiers Home in Marshalltown in the fall of 1973.Decorah Journal, April 4, 1974
