Patricia Tollefson, age 63, of Decorah, IA, died on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester from a massive brain bleed.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah. Everyone attending is required to wear a mask and please practice social distancing.

Memorials may be sent in memory of Patricia to her husband Jim at: 2499 Madison Rd, Decorah, IA 52101

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Patricia Irene (Brynsaas) Tollefson was born on September 7, 1957 in Decorah, Iowa to Arlin and Elaine (Baumler) Brynsaas. Patty was baptized and confirmed at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Decorah. She attended St. Benedicts school until 4th grade then attended Decorah schools until graduating from Decorah High School in 1975. Patty married Jimmy Tollefson on April 5, 1975 at Glenwood Lutheran Church in Decorah.

They had a beautiful daughter, Bonnie. She was perfect!

For the first few years Patty stayed at home with Bonnie and did daycare. When her mom retired in 1980, she took the position of bookkeeper for her dad and then her brother at Brynsaas Sales and Service for 35 years. She also sewed for Vamberia’s Norsk Engros for many years. After retirement in 2015 she continued to help with the billing for Jimmy’s lawn and snow business and watched her granddaughters one day a week while they were younger.

Patty and Jimmy enjoyed going on yearly vacations with Bonnie and her family. She was also part of a monthly card club she really looked forward to. Patty enjoyed reading books, spoiling her farm kitties and her Fenton glass collection especially the baskets. Cross stitch and picture taking were her artistic talent. She kept a tidy house and had every holiday decorated perfectly. The center of her attention was her granddaughters Briana and Britlyn. She always attended their activities and events. She had a knack for creating fun crafts and games and scavenger hunts. The annual photo monthly calendar with all the important dates listed and family pictures was another legacy of hers.

In the end she was able to give the ultimate gift and be an organ donor.

She is survived by her husband Jim. Daughter: Bonnie (Junior) Boyer, Calmar, IA. Granddaughters: Briana and Britlyn Boyer. Brother: Randy (Kristi) Brynsaas, Decorah, IA. Along with many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents: Arlin and Elaine (Baumler) Brynsaas. Father and mother-in-law: Leo and Emma (Skaim) Tollefson. Brothers-in-law: Bennie and Theodore Tollefson. Sister-in-law: Vernelle Van Dressar.
