OLD SETTLERS PASSING.
Mrs. W. W. Wheelock Dies Suddenly Monday.—Peter Holland Buried Saturday.

Peter Holland for many years a resident of Decorah township, died at his home two miles north of town last week Wednesday evening at a late hour, in his 76th year. Deceased was born in County Dublin, Ireland, came to America about fifty years ago and located in Pennsylvania where he was married to Miss Bridget Murphy. They came to Iowa soon after their marriage and resided first in Allamakee county, then coining to Winneshiek where they have since resided. The funeral was held at the Catholic church last Saturday morning, Rev. Hawe officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in St. Benedict Cemetery shows he was born in 1824.
