Spillville- Jerome J. Elsbrend, 78, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, in Gunderson Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, Wis., following a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Spillville, by the Rev. Donald Hawes. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and until 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Balik Funeral Home, Spillville. There will be a rosary at 5:30 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Luella; three sons, Steven of Ridgeway, Alan of Calmar and Darrel of Lime Springs; four daughters, Joan McIntire of Farmington, Minn., Kay Garbers of La Crosse, Wis., Nancy Brincks of Calmar and Debra Beckman of Winona, Minn.; a brother, Roger of Decorah; and two sisters, Sister Ruth Elsbrend of Eldridge and Colette Kuhn of Cresco.
