Truman Kirkeby, 77, of Decorah, died Jan. 11, 1990, at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 15, 1990, at 11 a.m. at Hauge Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Arland Braaten-Lee officiating. Organist was Alan Sensor.

Burial was at the Hauge Cemetery and pallbearers were Dave Sacquitne, Brian Hageman, Robert Thorsten, Darrell Wicks and Gwyneth Aarhus.

Truman Kirkeby was born June 21, 1912, at Glenwood Township, the son of John and Julia Dahlen Kirkeby. He was baptized at Glenwood Lutheran Church, and was confirmed at Hauge Lutheran Church.

He attended Winneshiek County Schools, and married Eunice Narveson on June 21, 1937, at Springwater Lutheran Church.

He had lived in Winneshiek County his entire life, farming in Canoe Township. He also owned Kirkeby Implement Service. He was a member of Hauge Lutheran Church.

He is survived by two children, Elene Amundsen of Valparaiso, Ind., and Cheryl Thompson of Decorah; and five grandchildren.

He was president of the Mabel Co-op Telephone Company for many years, and served on the Lutheran Credit Union Board.
