Caroline Erickson Myrah

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Jan. 5 at one o'clock from the family home in Springwater, Canoe Township, for Mrs. Caoline Myrah, who died on New Years morning, Jan. 1, after an illness of about two weeks with pneumonia.

Caroline Erickson was the daughter of the late Jens and Ingeborg Erickson and was born and lived on the farm, where she died, all her life with the exception of four year's residence at Ada, Minn., where she was married to Andrew P. Myrah on Aug. 9, 1886. They took up a homestead near Ada and the family home was there for about four years. They returned to Winneshiek County in 1889 establishing their home on the Canoe Towsnhip farm.

Mr. Myrah preceded his wife in death on April 10, 1939 at the age of 84.

Seven children were born to this union, six of whom survive. They are Julius and Carl at home, Ida (Mrs. Albert Boe) Springfield township, Clarence, Pleasant township, Ingvald, Austin, Minn., Elsie (Mrs. Theo Severson) Beach, N.D. A daughter, Ida Amanda, is deceased.

There are also seven grandchildren surviving, one sister Mrs. C.O. Moore of Decorah and one brother Anton Erickson of Spokane, Wash.

Mrs. Myrah was a woman beloved by all her neighbors and friends and she will be greatly missed in the family circle. To the bereaved ones much sympathy is extended.

Mrs. Myrah was an active and beloved member of the Big Canoe Church all her life. The funeral services were held from the home at one o'clock and from the Big Canoe Church at two o'clock. Rev. William T Hexon and Rev. T.O. Tolo officiated. Burial was in the family lot adjoining cemetery.

The pall bearers were Stanton and Harry Erickson, Olaus and Engbret Erickson, John Ellingson and Alfred Blegen, all nephews of Mrs. Myrah.

Arrangements for the funeral were in charge of the Fjelstul funeral home.
