Shortly after graduation, Clair joined the Airborne Division of the Army. He claimed with great pride to have made 26 jumps while serving.

After his discharge, Clair returned to Phoenix, Arizona where his mother and brother were living. It was there that he began his career in stucco and plastering. With Sacquitne, he worked on numerous buildings and homes in Northeast Iowa and Southern Minnesota. He took great pride in his work and many will tell you how excellent his work was. He used the name CWK Plastering for his side work.

Clair loved fishing, being outdoors, bonfires, and spending time with his many friends. He enjoyed music, especially classic rock, and played the drums. Clair had a heart of gold and would have done anything to help out anyone. He enjoyed joking with people and could strike up a conversation with anybody.

On Friday, November 25, Clair left the area to work for the winter in Las Vegas with his old company, Whodunit Plastering. Clair died Sunday, December 11, 2005 at his temporary home in Las Vegas at the age of 40 years.
