Lloyd Benjamin Forde, age 80, of rural Decorah, Iowa died Saturday, March 8, 1986 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital after a prolonged illness. Services were held Tuesday, March 11 at 1 p.m. at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church with the Rev. Steve Jensen officiating. Burial was in the Big Canoe Cemetery with Sensor-French Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Stanley Arneson, Robert Hanson, Arnold Thorson, Milton Iverson, and Frederick Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were members of Lloyd's confirmation class Thea Stoen, Herold Olson, Edgar Nelson, Henry Brunsvold, and Herbert Simenson.

Lloyd was born in Winneshiek County on October 5, 1905 to John and Martha (Berge) Forde. He attended rural Winneshiek County schools. He married Harriet Quanrud on June 28, 1934 at Big Canoe Lutheran Church. They were one of the first couples to be married at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church. He was a retired farmer, drove a maintainer for Allamakee County for 18 years and was a weed commissioner.

Survivors include his wife, Harriet, a daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Helen) Stegen of Decorah, Iowa and a son, Dr. James Forde of Moorhead, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sylvia Sand of Decorah, Iowa.
