Wilfred John Bohr

Wilfred Bohr, 70, of Ridgeway, died Saturday, March 10, 2001 at Regional Health Services Hospital in Cresco.

Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, March 13 at St. Joseph's Worship. Center with Rev. Henry Charipar officiating.

Music was provided by accompanist Suzanne Ollendick, Orvald Herold, who sang "Amazing Grace" and led the congregation in song, and Gary Lee, who sang "The Lord's Prayer."

The grandchildren carried the gifts, and casket bearers were Dan and Leon Bohr, Matthew Storlie, Nicholas Bohr, Roger Timp, David Lechtenberg, Dale Ringoen, Alan Peter and Tom Fye.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco, with Conway Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Wilfred John Bohr was born in Winneshiek County, near Ossian, August 15, 1930, the son of Anton and Mathilda (Hageman) Bohr.

He was forever the farmer. After losing his own father at a very young age, Wilfred Bohr helped the family farm at their home.

On May 1 1, 1954, he was united in marriage to Arlene Timp at St. Aloysius Church in Calmar.

They shared their early years farming near Ossian, then moved to the Ridgeway area in 1956, where they continued to farm.

Wilfred Bohr will fondly be remembered by many. He was involved with his church, the Knights of Columbus, and had very strong ties in the farming community.

He was a former director of the Winneshiek Co-op, and spent many sale days at the Cresco Livestock Market. Above farming and watching the Cubs and the Hawkeyes, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene Bohr; his children, Debbie, and Jim Storlie of Byron, Minn.; Dennis and Rebecca Bohr of Ridgeway and Craig and Carol Bohr of Ridgeway; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a step great-grandson; three sisters, Viola Bohr of Decorah; Arlene Bohr of Darien, IL, and Jeanne Hageman of Decorah and two brothers, Gerald Bohr of Cedar Rapids and Duane Bohr of Sylvania, Ga.

Wilfred John Bohr was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Linus Bohr.

Funeral services for Wilfred Bohr of Ridgeway were held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13 at the St. Joseph’s Worship Center in Cresco. The Rev. Henry W. Charipar officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Pallbearers were: Dan and Leon Bohr, Matthew Storlie, Nicholas Bohr, Roger Timp, David Lechtenberg, Dale Ringeon, Alan Peter, and Tom Fye. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
