MARRIED FIFTY-NINE YEARS.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hutchinson, Former Decorians, Celebrated Event in Sioux City last Friday.

The following item concerning two former well known Decorians is taken from the Sioux City Journal of last Friday:
In their home, at 1225 Twenty-first street, which they have occupied for the twenty years they have lived in Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hutchinson to-day will celebrate the fifty-ninth anniversary of their marriage. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson are 82 years old.
Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson were married in Blairsville, Pa., January 29, 1856. After their marriage they lived at Elgin, Ill., for a year and then moved to Decorah, Iowa, where they made their home for thirty years. In 1887 they moved to Sioux City, and have since made their home here.
When Mr. Hutchinson moved to Sioux City he engaged in the crushed stone business. He supplied most of the stone used in the large buildings that were put up along Fourth street during the boom times. He also supplied the stone which was used in the Northwestern railroad bridge across the Missouri river. Mr. Hutchinson was actively engaged in business until about six years ago when an accident disabled him and forced him to retire.
Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson are the great grandparents of three children. They have twenty-three grandchildren. Eight of the ten children of Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson are living. All of the six boys of the family are engaged in the ice cream business in various parts of Iowa. The children who are living are William R. Hutchinson, E. J. Hutchinson and Miss Nellie Hutchinson of Sioux City; C. J. Hutchinson and F. B; Hutchinson, of Des Moines; C. R. Hutchinson, of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. M. McRaith, of Iowa City.
Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson were born in Ireland. They both came to this country in the early 50s, but were not acquainted with each other at the time. Mr. Hutchinson made a trip through the west. Upon his return to the east he met Mrs. Hutchinson and they were married. They attribute their longevity to their active mode of living.

Only a quiet celebration will be held to-day. Mrs. F. B. Hutchinson, of Des Moines, and Mrs. M. McRaith, of Iowa City, will attend the celebration. It is the first time the family has failed to assemble to observe the anniversary.
