S. A. Pierce and wife were agreeably surprised, Wednesday evening, Nov. 23d, the twenty-seventh anniversary of their marriage, by a merry company of their friends who took possession of their domicile, making themselves very much at home, serving up the goodies they carried along, best of all, presented the happy couple with a beautiful couch as a remembrance of the kind wishes and high esteem of their many friends.
