Mrs. Fannie Packard Stroud was born in the year of 1859 in Mercer Co., Ill and departed this life at her home near Seymour, Iowa, April 4, 1917, aged 57 years, 10 months and 13 days. She was united in marriage to Mr. A. J. Stroud in the year 1875. To this union was born five children of whom three have preceded her to the better world. They are Mrs. Lottie Sager of Wallace, Neb.; Mrs. Florence Andrews of Seymour and baby, Ivah, who died in infancy. There remains to mourn her loss, her husband; one sister, Mrs. Libbie Green, of New Windsor, Ill and a son, Andrew Stroud of Seymour; a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Rockwell of Holyoke, Colo; 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Stroud's girlhood was spent in Illinois, where she was married, and later removed with her husband to Iowa, where the greater part of her life was spent except a few years in the west.

She was a good wife, a loving and devoted mother and a kind friend and neighbor to all who needed help.

During her short illness the name of Jesus was ever on her lips. The deceased was a faithful member of the U. B. church for 21 years.

The funeral services were held at the Pleasant View church, Rev Cooper officiating. There was a large congregation of sympathizing friends present. The services were held at 11 o'clock Tuesday. Interment in the Pleasant View cemetery.
