Miss Fife Dies From Explosion
Kerosene Explosion Proves Fatal To Woman – Accident Two Weeks Ago
Miss Sarah Fife, who was seriously burned when a bottle of kerosene exploded at the home of Ward Rumbaugh near Ira two weeks ago, died in a Des Moines hospital from the results of the burns at an early hour this morning.
Mr. Rumbaugh was also seriously burned about the hands at the time of the explosion and is now in newton where he is recovering. The bottle of kerosene was jarred from a shelf to the stove in some way and exploded from the heat. The fire ignited Miss Fife’s clothing and Rumbaugh was burned in trying to extinguish the blaze.
The funeral services for Miss Fife, will be held at St. Charles, Iowa, Thursday afternoon and burial will be made at that place.
