Thomas Miller, 86, a long time resident of Warren County, died at his home six miles northwest of Indianola near Scotch Ridge, on Monday. Tentative services are set for Thursday, July 11, at 2 p.m. at the Scotch Ridge Church. Final arrangements are awaiting the arrival of a daughter, Mrs. Alice Boles, of Washington, D.C. The Rev. Walter N. Brown, pastor of the church, will have charge of the services. Mr Miller was born at Keokuk, April 15, 1854, but moved with his parents to a farm near Lacona when very young. He spent the remainder of his life in Warren County, and lived on the same farm where he died 54 years. He was a former teacher and taught school in several schools in the county. He is survived by four children: Mrs. Anna Otterman of Des Moines; Mrs. Boles of Washington, D. C. and Miss Jennie H. Miller and William R. Miller who live at home. Mrs. Miller died four years ago. In 1933 Mr. and Mrs. Miller celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Indianola Tribune, Indianola, Iowa, Wed., July 10, 1940, p.1
