Albert Matusik
(April 23, 1887 - April 25, 1940)

Matusik Buried At Rock Island
The funeral of Albert Matusik, 53, who was killed last Thursday when he was thrown from a horse south of Indianola, was held at the Lilly Funeral Home, Des Moines, Saturday evening at 7:00 o’clock, the Rev. Sampson Cocks, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment was in the national cemetery at Rock Island, Ill. where short services were held at the graveside.
Cavalry Trooper
Matusik was a cavalry trooper at Fort Des Moines. After coming here he was employed by several farmers including Roy Douglas and Fred Flesher. Between jobs he made his home with Sheriff Lewis Johnson. He had lived here about a year and a half.
Fought in France
He is survived by two daughters who live in Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Kminski, Chicago, and a brother in Siberia. Five of his brothers fought in the United States army and were killed in action on the western front. He was born in Poland April 23, 1887. He had been in several European countries.
