Rufus Lentner Canny, son of Michael and Lydia Canny, was born in Wapello County, Iowa March 23rd, 1852 and departed this life, after over a years illness, on July 3rd, 1925 at his home near Eldon. He had reached the age of seventy three years, three months and ten days.  He was united in marriage to Lydia M. Skellenger, March 3, 1878.  To this union ten children were born.  His wife, three sons and one daughter preceded him in death.  Those left to mourn their loss are three sons, Elza, John and Lacy all of Eldon;  three daughters, Mrs. Ed Brown of Douds, Mrs. Burt Huffman of Libertyville and Mrs. Des Hart of Eldon -- also twenty seven grandchildren and one brother George Canny of Agency,  Besides many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at Christian Church in Eldon, July 5th at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. F.M. Garrett of Libertyville
