Berth L. Summers, 92, formerly of 1335 Elm died at 3:20 a.m. Aril 10, 1987 at Sunnyslope Care Center.  She was Born April 27, 1894 in Laddsdale to John and Rosa Riggs Canny.  She was a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple.  She married Virgil O. Summers on May 29, 1914 in Ottumwa.  He died in 1972.  She is survived by a daughter, Violet Swaim of Ottumwa;  three brothers, Charles and John Canny of Ottumwa and Fred Canny of St. Joseph, Mo.; two sisters, Helen Zesiger and Mary Groger of Ottumwa.
The service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Ottumwa Baptist Temple, the Rev. A.D. Pringle officiating.   Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.    Pall bears will be Jerry Zesiger, Don Gelger, Dick Guest, Paul Groger, Jack McAllister and Vernet "Buck" Mooney.  The casket will remain at the Johnson Funeral Chapel until 11 a.m. Monday, when it will be taken to the church and closed as the service begins.  Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday.  The family will be at the funeral chapel from 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday.
