Mrs. Rosa Bell Canny, 75, lifelong resident of Wapello County, died at 7:20 AM Sunday at her home, 1215 Monroe St. The daughter of John and Mary Reed Riggs, she was born west of Eldon, April 9, 1871. She resided there until 1905, when she moved to Ottumwa. She was married to John F. Canny October 22, 1889. He preceded her in death in 1917. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Sylva Mooney, Mrs. Bertha Summers, Mrs. Helen Zesiger and Miss Hazel Canny, all of Ottumwa and Mrs. Mary Groger, Downing Missouri; seven sons, Michael, Arthur, George, Lester, Charles and John Canny, all of Ottumwa, and Fred Canny, Sigourney; 29 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; four brothers, William and George Riggs, both of Ottumwa and L.W. Riggs, Eldon and Jasper Riggs, Newell, South Dakota and two sisters Mrs. Sarah Black and Mrs. Effie Barker, both of Ottumwa. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson and two brothers. Funeral services will be at 2 PM Wednesday at the Temple Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ronald C. King. Burial will be in shawl cemetery. The casket will remain at the Johnson funeral Chapel until 11:30 AM Wednesday, when it will be taken to the church.
