Death Comes to Thomas Talley, 83.

Thomas Talley, 83, resident of this community for more than 55 years and a former employee of the Ottumwa school district, died at 8:45 p.m. Monday at his home, 126 South Schuyler street.

The son of Henry and Olive Talley, he was born February 17, 1865, at Milan, Mo. For about 20 years he worked as a plumber for the local school system. On June 28, 1894, he married Eva Baird.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Willard Talley, Ottumwa; a daughter Mrs. Marie Black, Batavia; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the last member of the immediate family.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the residence, 126 South Schuyler street, conducted by the Rev. V. L. Currier of the Finley Avenue Baptist church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The casket will be taken from the Johnson funeral chapel to the home late this afternoon.

Pallbearers will be Wilbur Gentry, Leonard Martin, Linden Meadows, Porter Baird, Guy Glew, and Jim Downing.
