Zelta I. Dingus, 87, of Fairfield, died at 8:10 a.m. September 18, 1993, at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.
She was born February 9, 1906, in Albia to William Curtis and Inex Grace Rains Lowry. She married Malcolm Dingus on April 27, 1924 in Fort Madison.
She lived in Fairfield in her early teens. She worked as a station manager telegrapher for the railroad at Mount Ayr and in the Monmouth, Ill. area and was a station manager telegrapher in Birmingham for 14 years. She retired after 25 1/2 years of service. She then moved to Fairfield 20 years ago after her retirement. She was a member of the Birmingham Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by a son, Richard of Mesquite, Texas; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several step great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Lorain of Queen City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Malcolm Jr. and Donald Lee; her parents; two sisters and three brothers.
Graveside services were held Monday, September 20, 1993 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, the Rev. David Kennedy officiating.
Memorials may be made to Birmingham Presbyterian Church.
Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham was in charge of arrangements.
