Edna Mae Muir, 95, of Keosauqua died at 10:40 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 1993 at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua.
She was born July 27, 1898 near Mt. Sterling to Edgar and Daisy Bowles Wollam. She married Clare T. Muir March 24, 1923 in Ottumwa. He died Dec. 12, 1975. She lived in Lebanon until moving to Keosauqua in 1975, and has resided the past five years at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, Keosauqua.
She was a rural school teacher and with her husband built the Lebanon Store in 1923 which they operated until 1946. She was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women and had served in numerous offices in the church and UMW.
Surviving are a son, Gary Leon Muir, Keosauqua, a daughter, Karyl Kay Chambers, Keosauqua, a grandson, four granddaughters and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Vera Shannan, Irene Brasel, Nellie Verdigan and three brothers, Riley, Don and Earl Wollam.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1993 in the Lebanon United Methodist Church, Rev. Gerald Caughron and Rev. Michael Druhl officiating. Burial was in Lebanon Cemetery.
Memorials to her church or Van Buren Good Samaritan Center may be left at the funeral home.
Pedrick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
