FAIRFIELD - Former Douds and Fairfield resident Marie Strang, 83, died at 11:30 a.m. March 15, 1993, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
She was born March 17, 1909, in Floris to Charles Lee and Mary Delilah Manning Taylor. She married J. Doyle Strang on May 1, 1935, in Rhoades. He died Dec. 7, 1979.
She graduated in 1927 from Fairfield High School. She taught for several years in rural Jefferson and Van Buren county schools and later was a substitute teacher. She lived in Douds for 40 years until moving to Fort Meyers, Fla. in 1976, and moved to Fairfield in 1979. In 1991 she moved into Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, where she had served as treasurer and president of WSCS. She was a member of Iowa Rural Lettercarriers Auxiliary.
She is survived by a daughter, Norma Bogner of Fairfield; a son, Max of Milton; five grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Rodibaugh of Libertyville.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Cleo Bishop and Irene Dockry; and two infant brothers, Glenn Taylor and Ross.
The service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, the Rev. Michael Druhl officiating. Burial will be in Iowaville Cemetery near Slema.
Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.
Memorials may be made to her church or Van Buren Good Samaritan Center.
