Mary McWhirter

Mary McWhirter, 89, of Fairfield died at 9:40 p.m. April 20, 1990, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

She was born June 17, 1990, in Jefferson County to Scott and Eliza Williams McCormick. She married Ray I. McWhirter on Sept. 28, 1922, in Fairfield. He died Jan. 29, 1963.

A resident of Jefferson County all of her life, she was a homemaker and a rural school teacher. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and charter member of Bradshaw Helping Hand Club.

She is survived by three sons, Wilbur of Birmingham, Rodger of Burlington and Edward of Batavia; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Florence Liblin of Fairfield.

She was peceded in death by two grandchildren; three sisters, Nellie, Minnie and Mildred; and two brother, Guy and Glen.

The service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 23, 1990 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, the Rev. Bonifacio Mequi officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemeteryl(sp).
