Miller rites at Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM - Maurice M. Miller, 73, Birmingham, died at 6:10 a.m. today, Feb. 15 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Birmingham United Methodist Church. Burial with military rites will be in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham United Methodist Church and Birmingham American Legion.

Miller was born Nov. 23, 1914 near Birmingham, the son of Albert and Alta Behner Miller. He married Maxine Barker Nov. 18, 1951 in the Methodist church at Keosauqua. He lived most of his life in Birmingham, where he was a Standard Oil agent for more than 25 years. He graduated from Birmingham High School in 1934 and was in the Army Infantry 169th Regiment, 43rd Division in World War I.

He was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church, Haney-Brannan Post 181 American Legion, Birmingham Lions, Fairfield VFW and Southeast Antique Car Club.

Surviving are his wife; two brothers, David F. of Birmingham, Dale A. of Fairfield; two sisters, Merribelle Warner, Lois Beswick, both of Stockport; several nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.

Maurice Miller

Maurice M. Miller, 73, of Birmingham died at 6:10 a.m. Feb. 15, 1988, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

He was born Nov. 23, 1914, near Birmingham to Albert and Alta Behner Miller. He had lived most of his life in Birmingham, where he was a Standard Oil agent for more than 25 years. He was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church, Haney-Brannan Post 181 of American Legion, a charter member of Birmingham Lions club, a member of Fairfield Fairfield Veterans of Foreign Wars, Southeast Iowa Antique Car Club, and a 1934 graduate of Birmingham High School. He was in the U.S. Army Infantry 169 Regiment 43rd Division in World War II. He married Maxine Barker Nov. 18, 1951, in Keosauqua.

He is survived by his wife; two brothers, David F. of Birmingham and Dale A. of Fairfield; and two sisters, Merribelle Warner and Lois Beswick of Stockport.

The service was held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1988 at Birmingham United Methodist Church. Burial with military rites was in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham. Behner Funeral Home, Fairfield in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established to his church or Birmingham American Legion.
