B. Hartman rites Wednesday

Bertha L. Hartman, 88, 61 1/2 N. Court St., died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, April 10, 1988, at her home.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. James A. Cecil officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the VFW Bingo Fund.

Mrs. Hartman was born May 24, 1899, in Farmington, the daughter of Seth W. and Amanda Mathias Ruark. She married David Hartman Aug. 20, 1974, in Kahoka, Mo. She was a homemaker and was employed at Fairfield Laundry for 28 years before retiring in 1975. She had lived in the Fairfield community for 6 years and before that in Farmington. She was a member of Eagles Lodge, Ottumwa, and Moose Lodge, Fort Madison.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Edna M. Lee of Fairfield; four stepdaughters, Marge Devore of Sturgeon, Mo., Betty Waggoner of Reed Springs, Mo., Ruth Hammond of Alliance, Neb., Evelyn Phillips of Woodford, Va.; stepson, Jerry Hartman of Burlington; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A son, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
