August L. Casady

August L. Casady, son of Andrew A. and Margaret Foster Casady, was born August 6, 1900 in Van Buren County and departed this life the afternoon of Friday, July 15, 1988 in the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown at the age of 87.

He lived in the Milton area, in Sheboygan, Wisc., near Douds, and for the past several years in the Veteran's Home. He farmed in Van Buren County, and worked at Kohler Manufacturing Co. in Wisconsin.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of Russell-Strait Post No. 483, American Legion, Milton, and the Milton Christian Church.

Surviving are a sister, Marie Zeitler of Douds, a brother, Harold Casady, 31 nephews and nieces, 96 great nephews & nieces, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by eight brothers, Art, Charles, Hazen, Tom, Walter, Nile, Albert, and Olan Casady and a sister, Helen Elder.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 18, 1988 at 1:30 P.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton, with military rites by Russell-Strait Post. A memorial was established.
