17 year old Michael LeRoy Teal, son of LeRoy and Veneta Pierce Teal, of Keosauqua, died Sunday evening, August 1, 1982 in a one car auto accident on the county gravel road southeast of Douds.

According to the county sheriff's office, the accident occured some time between 7:30 and 10:30 Sunday night, when Teal apparently drove off the roaed. The car rolled several times and from all indications Teal was killed on impact, according to the sheriff's office.

Michael LeRoy Teal, was born May 23, 1965 in Keosauqua.

The family lived in Kilbourn until moving to Keosauqua in 1980. Mike was a senior at Van Buren Community High School where he was an honor student and a member of the band and track team. He was employed on a farm this summer.

Remaining are his mother, two uncles Wesley and Paul Pierce, a cousin Beryl Pierce, other relatives and friends. His father preceded him in death in 1976.

He attended the Mount Zion Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services were held Wednesday August 4, 1982 at 10 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral HOme in Keosauqua, with Rev. Harold Schnedler officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery at Cantril. A memorial was established.
