Fred Short

Fred Short, 85, Milton, died at 1:20 p.m. Monday at the Bloomfield Manor.

He was born April 23, 1895 near Fremont to Albert and Nellie Barker Short. He farmed in the Milton area for 41 years and was a member of the Milton United Methodist Church, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion.

He married Mable Woollam. She died in 1949.

Survivors include one son, Rex Short of Milton; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Earl.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Milton United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ed Kail. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Milton with American Legion services. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service.

Family visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Priester Funeral Chapel in Milton.

A memorial has been established to his church.
