Virgil L. Shepperd

Virgil L. Shepperd, 76, of rural Cantril died Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

He was born November 22, 1912 in Henry County to James R. Shepperd and Almeda May Kirby Shepperd.

He married Evelyn N. Holmes November 21, 1931 in Ft. Madison. She died January 17, 1987.

He operated Town and Country Truck Stop 1970-1974, and farmed near Cantril. He lived in Davis and Van Buren Counties from 1955-83, moving to Ft. Madison in 1983.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and his wife.

Surviving are three nieces, Mrs. John (Delores) Genck, Donnellson, Mrs. Raymond (Connie) Robison of Cantril and Mrs. Don (Elaine) Niggemeyer of Ft. Madison.

Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 13th at the Barr Memorial Chapel in Ft. Madison with Rev. Charles Kamilor officiating.
