Maurice J. "Moe" Rump, 73, of 107 S. Adella died at 4:20 a.m. Dec. 11, 1984, at his home.

He was born June 7, 1911, in Ottumwa to rFank and Theoria Alice Morrow Rump. He lived in Ottumwa most of his life and had retired from the Postal Service after 34 years. He served in World War II with the Army engineers, receiving three battle stars. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Rural Carriers, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 775, O.B. Nelson Post 3 American Legion and the Eagles Lodge. He married Beulah Bickel on Oct. 21, 1929, in Bloomfield. She died Sept. 14, 1970. He married Virginia Sharp Pettibone on Sept. 4, 1976, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Teresa Cornwell of St. Albans, Va.; three stepsons, Jerry Pettibone of Moravia, Jim Pettibone of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Tom Pettibone of Hobbs, N.M.; a stepdaughter, Ann Brede of Schleswig; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and stepgreatgrandchildren; and a halfbrother, Jesse Hissem of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by a son, Maurice G.

The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Church the Revs. Paul C. Hart and Paul Donahue officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with gravside rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 775 members, who also will be pallbearers.

A memorial has been established.

Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
