Ve Irene Ornduff

Ve Irene Ornduff, daughter of Ida Starr and Harvey McLeland was born December 31, 1907, at Palisade, Nebraska, and died Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 1979, at the age of 71 years, ten months and 22 days. She had been in failing health for five and one half years and entered the Bloomfield Manor in November of 1978.

She was educated in the rural schools of Van Buren County, Iowa, and graduated from Milton High Schoo in 1927. She taught in rural schools before her marriage to Guy W. Ornduff on April 8, 1933, at the Methodist Parsonage in Bloomfield, Iowa. To this union four children were born. Most of their married life they lived on a farm two and one half miles east of Troy, Iowa.

Ve was a former member of the Troy Rebekah Lodge, a charter member of the Help Your Neighbor Club and was affiliated with the Troy United Methodist Church and a member of the W.S.C.S.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Blanche, one brother, James, and two brothers in infancy.

She is survived by her husband, Guy, of Milton, Iowa, three sons, Dean Guy of Keosauqua, Iowa, Leo Carrol of Milton, Iowa, and Rex Dale of Milton, Iowa, and one daughter, Ida Marie Glattfelder of Bloomfield, Iowa, and four grandchildren, Jeff and Kathy Glattfelder and Brian and LeAnn Ornduff, one sister, Edna Robinson of Milton, Iowa, and three brothers, Leith McLeland of Ottumwa, Iowa, Craig McLeland of Arbela, Mo., and Robert McLeland of Douds, Iowa.

Ve was a devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor and friend ready to help and advise. She loved to be out doors gardening or doing chores.

Funeral services were held Saturday November 24, 1979, at the Troy United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. John Augspurger. Burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery. The Priester Funeral Chapel, Bloomfield, Iowa, was in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial has been established to her church.
