27-year old Eldon man dead after being struck by car

A 27-year old Eldon man was killed at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 30 when he was struck by a car driven a 25-year-old Eldon woman. The accident happened west of Selma on Highway 16.

Van Buren County authorities and Randall Ray Russell was lying in the road when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Rose Annette Haley, 25, of Eldon.

Van Buren County Sheriff's officers were notified of the accident by the Wapello County Sheriff's Department.

An autopsy has been requested by Van Buren County Assistant Medical Examiner Dr. Michael Poole.

Investigation is continuing by the Sheriff's Department and the Iowa State Patrol.

Man struck, killed on Hwy 16 near Selma

Assistant Van Buren County Medical Examiner, Mike Poole is requesting an autopsy of an Eldon man who was killed after he was struck by a car Tuesday morning, just west of Selma, on Highway 16.

According to officials, Randall J. Russell, 27, 211 Elm, Apt. 1, Eldon was struck by a car driven by Rose Annette Haley, 25, Eldon. Wapello County Sheriff's office notified the Van Buren Sheriff's office at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday morning about the accident.

Authorities say Russell was lying on the road when he was struck.

The investigation is continuing by the Van Buren Sheriff's office and State Highway Patrol.
