A letter from Keosauqua states that Saturday last was a memorable day in the history of Keosauqua-"the driving of the last spike on the Keosauqua branch of the C., R. I. & P. railroad, and the people were jubilant, and gave vent to their good feelings in an old-fashioned way. When the announcement was made that the Keosauqua branch was completed, shout upon shout rent the air, cannon roared and hats and handkerchiefs were tossed in the air. A brass band discoursed sweet music, congratulatory speeches were made and a general hand-shaking indulged in. Monday, October 4th, the event will be celebrated in a grand excursion from Keosauqua to Keokuk.
