Sophie Wilhelmine Wiese was born, March 15, 1855 in Hohenfelde Holstein, Germany. Here she was baptized and later on confirmed in the Evangelical Church. On January 25, 1879 she was united in married to Henry Wiese. To this union were born 11 children; 5 sons and 6 daughters. One daughter Linda preceded her in death 6 years ago at the age of 18. In 1897 she came to Gladbrook Iowa, living on a farm till about 10 years ago she moved to Gladbrook, spending here the rest of her life. She had been sick at her home for over 12 weeks, where loving hands ministered unto her.
Mrs. Wiese was a kind and loving mother, always ready to help her husband and be of service to her children. She died January 1, 1925 and reached the age of 69 years, 10 months and 16 days.
She leaves to mourn, her husband, Henry Wiese, 5 sons, Theodore, Gerhardt, Emil, Rudolph and Gustaf of Gladbrook, Iowa, 5 daughters, Mrs. Martha Prehn, Mrs. Olgo Delfs, Mrs. Emma Frahm, Mrs. Meta Harms of Gladbrook, Iowa; and Mrs. Erna Scott of Clutier, Iowa.
Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth; Yes, said the spirit, that they may rest from their labour; and their works do follow them.
The funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. Bergstraesser on Tuesday with interment in the Crystal cemetery where the remains were followed by a large number of sympathizing friends and mourning relatives, and the world has lost another loving mother and a good woman.
