OBITUARY

ELEANOR KUBIK

Eleanor Tina Kubik, 97, a well known, long-time Clutier-Traer area resident, died at 8:40 p. m. at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer Saturday evening, April 5, 1997, where she had been a resident since July 16, 1990. Her death was attributed to pulmonary-cardio arrest. A Funeral Liturgy for Mrs. Fred (Eleanor) Kubik was celebrated Wednesday morning, April 9, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, rural Clutier by Fr. John TIlp. A vigil service was held Tuesday evening at Hand's Clutier Chapel and K. D. Lodge public rosary was held at the chapel at 9:45 am Wednesday, prior to the Funeral Mass. Burial was in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, rural Clutier. Music for the service was provided by Catherine McLean, organist and the church choir. Mass servers were Charles and Daniel Svoboda and serving as lectors were Dan Kubik and Nick Kubik. Gift bearers were Lisa Kubik and Christina Ruzicka. Linda Goeldner, Margaret Kubik and John Svoboda were Eucharistic ministers. Ushers were Richard Zmolek and Bernard Svoboda. . Casket bearers were Dan Kubik, Jeff Kubik, Nick Kubik, Jason Kubik, Brian Kubik, Greg Kubik, Rodney Kubik, Bradley Kubik, Michael Kubik and Carl Uchytil Jr. Floral tributes were handled by Robert and Marge Kriz, Betty Krezek and Loretta Konicek.
Memorial attendants were Jean Eaton, Lori Fuller, Linda Goeldner and LeAnn Heitkamp.

A memorial fund has been established.

Eleanor Kubik was born in rural Tama County Feb. 17, 1900, the daughter of Frank and Tina (Svoboda) Zmolek. She received her education in the rural schools of her birth and grew to womanhood there. She was united in marriage to Fred J. Kubik of rural Clutier on Nov. 22, 1921, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, rural Clutier. The couple always farmed west of Clutier.

Mr. Kubik died May 4, 1986. Mrs. Kubik continued residing on the farm until entering the care centerin 1990. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, rural Clutier, St. Wenceslaus Rosary society and the Clutier K. D. Lodge #130.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening and aiding in the farm operation.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Fred; a daughter, Georgiana Uchytil; her parents; and three sisters, Frances Yuska, Albie Kvidera and Mary Kriz.

Surviving are five sons, Leonard F. Kubik and Antone L. Kubik, both of Traer; Freddie F. Kubik of Clutier, Dr. Rudy R. Kubik of Independence, IA., and Robert L. Kubik of Springfield, MO; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
