OBITUARY

Vanetta Alverta Knoop was born on April 9, 1913 at Gladbrook, Iowa; the daughter of John and Emma (Staker) Fink. She grew up in the Gladbrook, Garwin and surrounding communities where she attended country schools and Dinsdale School.

On November 7, 1933 Vanetta was united in marriage to Theodore (Pete) Byrnes. One daughter, Loretta, was born to this union and they were divorced in 1936. Vanetta was then married to Marcus Knoop on September 18, 1940 and one son, Rodger, was born to this union. Marcus and Vanetta farmed for a few years at Clutier and Belle Plaine before moving to Traer in 1946.

Vanetta worked at the Jack Spratt store from 1951 to 1960. She then worked at Colds Supermarket from 1960 to 1965. She also worked at Dr. Kelley's Chiropractic office from 1968 to 1982.

Following Marcus's death on November 30, 1974 Vanetta continued to live in Traer until November of 1996 when she became a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center. Vanetta's death came at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls on Wednesday, July 21,1999 at the age of 86 years.

She enjoyed her family, being with friends, crocheting and sewing.

Vanetta is preceded in death by her parents and husband Marcus. She is survived by her son Rodger Knoop of Traer, lA, her daughter Loretta (Mrs. Donald) Hanus of Dysart, lA, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild.
