WILLIAM LEWIS McNEIL

William Lewis McNeil, after a long illness, died at Boone Sunday, at the age of 94 years. He was born in Adams county, Ohio, Dec. 29, 1849, and came to Ames in 1907. He was in the dry goods and commercial business in Ames.

Mr. McNeil was married to Emma Campbell Apr. 21, 1882, at Bloomington, Ill., and they had been married 61 years. Mrs. McNeil survives him. To them were born seven children: Ethel, who died in infancy; Howard W., of Gooding, Idaho; Mrs. C. A. West, Mrs. T. R. Moses, DeVere and Paul McNeil, all of Ames; and Col. Guy L. McNeil of Tampa, Fla. Also surviving are seven grandsons, Robert and Roland West of Waterloo; Marvin West, U. S. Navy; Dale West, U. S. Army; Kenneth West, Los Angeles, Calif.; Don McNeil of Ames; and Guy L. McNeil, Tampa, Fla. His five granddaughters are Mrs. Merritt Nicols and Miss Doris Moses of Chicago; Miss Marilyn Moses and Miss Doris McNeil of Ames; and Suzanne McNeil of Tampa, Fla. He had one great-grandson, Gary West, of Waterloo. Also three brothers: W. S., of Huron, S. D.; Eli, of Roberts, Ill.,; and Cary of Corona, Calif. Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Services were held Wednesday with the Rev. A. R. McLaughlin officiating. Burial in the Ames cemetery.
