Obituary

Sarah A. Brier, born of Scotch Irish parents in Armagh, Ireland, March 24, 1834. Married to Edmund Loughran, Feb. 6, 1854, in Washington county, Pa. Came to Des Moines early in 1859 and removed to Ames in January 1885. Died in Ames, Iowa, July 18, 1901. Early in life she united with the United Presbyterian church and was a member of the First United Presbyterian church of Des Moines at the time of her death. Funeral services conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. C. Douglas. She leaves a husband and eight children, S. L. Loughran, T. J. Loughran, Mary M. Loughran and Mrs. Jennie E. Coulter, all of Ames, J. B. Loughran, of Scott, Kansas, Mrs. Sarah M. Wintersteen of Hartford, S. D., E. J. Loughran of Des Moines, and W. B. Loughran of Columbus, Ohio, all of whom were present at the funeral except the latter named.
