DEATHS
George W. Akin
George W. Akin, son of John and Rebecca Akin, was born in Jay county, Indiana, October 17, 1851, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. L. Morris at Ames, Iowa, December 24, 1910, aged 59 yeas, 2 months and 4 days. He moved to Tazewell county, Illinois when 5 years old. He grew to manhood there and was united in marriage to Emma Zumwalt. He united with the Christian church in the winter of 1874 of which denomination he had since been an active member. He came from Illinois to Iowa in the spring of 1894, locating on a farm near Ames and in 19-- sold his farm and moved to town. In 1906 he became interested in Missouri real estate and moved to Brookfield, Missouri, which was his residence at the time of his death. He leaves a wife and eight children to mourn his loss, being Emma Akin, the wife and the following children, Effie Keltner and R. C. Akin of Brookfield, Missouri, John Akin, Sumner, Missouri, Grace Fall of Jordan, Iowa, L. E. Akin of Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Bertha Morris, Mrs. Anna Clark and Bernice Akin of Ames, Iowa.
Of George W. Akin we can say he was a man of high standing, both socially and liberal in all dealings. His loss will not only be deeply felt by near relatives, but by all friends and neighbors at Ames and his late residence at Brookfield, Missouri. We cannot say too mush of a man of such high character.
