Alan J. Maximuk, age 75, of Ames, Iowa, left this life much too early on Monday, May 3, 2021. His ashes are inurned at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.

Alan was born October 9, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Adam James and Katherine (Renko) Maximuk. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was in the Elmendorf Air Force Band in Alaska before transferring to Arizona. He began his master's program in music at the University of Iowa.

Alan tutored students in music, provided instrument repair, and enjoyed writing music. He was employed by the National Veterinary Services Laboratory (NVSL), from which he retired.

Survivors include his siblings, Sharon Cummings, Betty Richter, Donna Chung, and John Maximuk; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger Maximuk.

Ames Monument & Cremation Center has been entrusted with the care of Alan and his family.
