Carrol was born on October 21, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Dale Edward and Fay Irene (Boze) Bearup. She was united in marriage to Richard L. Martin on June 16, 1961, in Flint, Michigan. Carrol and Richard moved numerous times, due to Richard being in the United States Air Force for 20 years.
Carrol would start preparing the kids for each move by giving them information of things to see or do. On one such move from Minot, North Dakota, to San Jose, California, she had told them that there was no snow in California. When they arrived to the California state line and could see snow in the mountains, her son Jeffery said, “you lied to us, there is snow here.”
Carrol loved crafts of all kinds; she would often have the TV on while working on a craft project, if you asked how she could do both, she would say, “I am multitasking.” Genealogy was a passion of hers, she would go into detail of the family connection, when asked about an ancestor.
Carrol was a prayer warrior; she would pray and then look for results. She would ask the people that she was praying for, if she needed to continue to pray for them and they would reply that they received an answer to their prayer request. Her faith was an inspiration to her family, Carrol will be missed by all that knew her and we have the assurance that we will meet again someday.
Her favorite bible verse was Jeremiah 29:11-13 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” NIV
Carrol was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Lori (Stephen) Imel; son, Jeffery (Lea Christensen) Martin; eighteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon (Robert) Moody, Sr. and Garnet (Bjorn) Strom; many cousins; and lifelong friend, Marge Balsiger.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home and online condolences may be left to Carrol’s family at www.adamssoderstrum.com.
