MRS. L. C. KAHRS DIED AFTER SHORT ILLNESS
Mrs. L. C. Kahrs passed away last Saturday at her home in the east part of town. She took sick on July 4th, her 72nd birthday, and gradually grew worse until the end came on the fifteenth.
The funeral services were held in the St. Petri church Tuesday, Rev. Andersen officiating. Interment was made in the Tipton cemetery, near Hubbard, where the Kahrs family lived previous to moving to Story City eight years ago.
Mrs. Kahrs' maiden name was Marie Olson, being a daughter of Gjerman Olson, who came to Story City about the year 1863 and lived for a number of years on the place formerly occupied by Samuel H. Olson and now owned by John Donhowe. Older residents will remember that the east and west road by the place was once called the Gjerman Lane.
She was born at at Hammerfest, Norway, July 4, 1850, and came to America with her parents in 1862. They lived a short time at Clinton, Ia., and then came to Story City. Her father returned to Norway in 1881 after he sold his place.
She was married to L. C. Kahrs Sept. 14, 1895.
She is survived by her husband, two step-daughters, and two sisters. The sisters are Mrs. Randie Knutson of Hubbard and Mrs. N. P. (Caroline) Hanson of Springfield, Mo.
