Darrell Ray Thornton
May 17, 1922, to Oct. 5, 2003

Darrell Ray Thornton, 81, of Nevada, died Sunday, Oct. 5, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

He was born May 17, 1922, in Colo, to Clarence and Margaret (Hunter) Thornton. He married Lois Barker on Dec. 3, 1955, in Polk County. He was employed by Maytag Corp. in Newton. He was a member of U. A. W. He enjoyed Sprint Car Racing. He also resided in Colfax and Knoxville.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Ruth Thornton of Nevada, and a sister, June Dan of Fullerton, Calif.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dale, on Sept. 20, 1985, and his sister, Neva Poland.

The body was cremated and no services are planned. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
