Services set Tuesday for Alious (Ale) Spivey who died Friday evening

NEVADA -- Services for Alious (Ale) Spivey, 81, of 1113 Lincolnway will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 28 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Basil Grimes and Rev. Marvin Hulse officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.

Spivey died Friday evening at the Story County Hospital.

Born May 18, 1894 in Philadelphia, Mississippi to Enos and Mattie Guess Spivey, he moved to Indiana when he was 12 years old. He married Beulah Grimes in 1914.

Ale, as he was known to his friends, has been a resident of Story County where he farmed in Collins, Maxwell and Nevada areas until he retirement to Nevada in 1967. His wife, Beulah, preceded him in death in 1974.

Spivey was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Hickory Grove Community Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Eunice (Lloyd) Shickell and Mrs. Martha Shaw, both of Nevada; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Gladys (Clem) Balliu of Rock Island, Ill., and Mrs. Wilda DeBruicker of Hoopston, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers and a great-grandson.
