Smith, 66, dies Saturday

NEVADA - Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning for Bernice Smith, 66, of Nevada, who died Saturday morning at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames. He had been ill for the past three years.

Officiating at the Ryan Funeral Home was Rev. Marvin Hulse. Burial was in the Nevada Cemetery.

Born on June 21, 1911, to Oscar and Mary Williams Smith, he had been a lifetime resident of Nevada. Smith, who was employed at Iowa State University in Ames, married Beulah Thompson on May 4, 1932. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah; two sons, Arthur O. Smith of Nevada and William Smith of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Patricia Haddock of Nevada; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers and one sister.
