Harry Shoafstall Dies From Stroke At the Age of 77

Harry D. Shoafstall, 1815 Sixth St., died Sunday, Sept. 3, at the Story County Hospital at 3:00 a.m. Death was due to a stroke. He had been in failing health for the past six months. He was 77 years of age.

Shoafstall was born May 22, 1884 at Sheridan, Iowa, the son of Zacharia and Anna Shoafstall. He had been an agent and telegrapher for the CRI&P Railroad. He had lived in Nevada since June 1960.

He was married to Lottie Zenor, Feb. 20, 1907, in Spencer, Iowa. Shoafstall was a member of the Sarah Spencer Methodist Church in Tampa, Fla. He held a 50 year membership in Masonic Lodge No. 332, Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons.

Survivors include his wife Lottie of Nevada, two sons, Harold Shoafstall of Nevada and Wayne Shoafstall of Des Moines, and by one daughter, Mrs. Maxine DePaepe of Ithaca, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services for Shoafstall are being held today at the Ryan Funeral Home at 2 p.m., with the Rev. James Dendler officiating.

Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.
