John H. Sharp, Jr.
Nov. 10, 1923-Oct. 18, 1994John H. Sharp Jr., 70, of Ames, died Tuesday of heart failure at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Ames with the Rev. Orville Sanderson of the Bethesda Lutheran Church, Ames officiating. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
John H. Sharp Jr. was born in Ames to John V. and Clara (Oakley) Sharp [should be Clara (Oakland) Sharp]. He married Beulah Walston on June 8, 1946, in Ames. A lifetime resident of Ames area, he was employed as a boiler operator at the City of Ames Power Plant. He retired in 1981 after 20 years with the plant. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Pamela McCullough of Indianola and Paula Miller of Orville, Calif., five brothers, Milford Sharp of Duluth, Minn., Fred Sharp and Dick Sharp, both of Ames, LeRoy Sharp of Oklahoma and Max Sharp of Hampton, a sister, Leota Gammon of Ames, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1991, a sister and a brother.
Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames.
