Darlene Pallesen
Jan. 3, 1924, to Jan. 20, 2001
Darlene Pallesen, 77, of Webster City and formerly of Nevada, died Saturday Jan. 20, at Hamilton Hospital in Webster City.
She was born in Ellsworth on Jan. 3, 1924, to John Dixon and Catherine Ermal (Potts) Carroll. She grew up in the Jewell area, graduating from Jewell High School in 1941. She married Harold Pallesen in Webster City. They owned and operated a summer resort in Pequot Lakes, Minn. They moved to Jewell, where Darlene was city clerk. In 1970, they moved to Nevada, where she was city clerk, retiring in 1987. They moved to Webster City in June of 2000. She loved to read and enjoyed baking.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilynn "Lynn" (and Jerry) Cayler of Galt; a daughter-in-law, Helen Pallesen of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Colleen Follet of Webster City; and two brothers, John Carroll Jr. of Webster City and Leslie Carroll of Gowrie.
Her parents; her husband, Harold, in September of 2000; her son, Michael Ray Pallesen in June of 1998; and two brothers, Dale Carroll and Floyd Carroll, all preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell with the Rev. John Grebner officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Friends may call one hour prior to services at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell. Memorials may be given to Hamilton County Hospice.
