LEWIS W. LARSON FUNERAL HERE
Former Story City Man Died at St. James, Minn. Thursday of Last Week
Funeral services were held at the Henderson funeral home at this place Monday afternoon for Lewis W. Larson, oldest son of Mrs. Marie Larson of this place. He had been in failing health for some time, but death came more quickly than had been anticipated on Thursday, Aug. 1, at his home at St. James, Minn.
Rev. Bergeman officiated at the funeral, which was attended by a large number of relatives and near friends of the deceased. Mrs. Lester Henderson played the piano and sang. The pallbearers were Pete Peterson, J. H. Johnson, Nels Larson, M. Johnson, Andrew Bickelhaupt and C. F. Johnson. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery.
Obituary
Rev. Bergeman preceded his sermon by reading the following obituary:
Lewis W. Larson was a native of Denmark. He was born on the 7th day of November, 1871, and after a sojourn on earth of 64 years he came to his death on August 1, 1935, at St. James, Minn.
When a child he, with his parents came to America and at first located at McCallsburg. A few years later the family moved to Story City where he grew to manhood.
On September 11, 1895, he was married to Miss Elsie Paulson near Jewell. They established their home at Story City after their marriage and also lived at Ames for a short period of time, and 34 years ago they moved to Algona. To them were born two children. After 15 years of married life his companion was taken from him by death September 19, 1910, which was a severe blow to him and his children.
In 1916 he was married to Mrs. Minnie Frederickson and since then has lived at Worthington, Wilmar, Marshall and St. James, Minn.
He is survived by his wife, the two children, Miss Myrle Larson of Washington, D. D., and Floyd Larson of Fairmont, Minn.; his aged mother residing here in Story City; five brothers: Pete Larson of Blue Earth, Minn., Godfried and Fred Larson of Winnebago, Minn., William R. Larson of Fairmont, Minn., and N. H. Larson of Chicago, Ill.; also three sisters, Mrs. Mary Johnson of Cambridge, and the Misses Jane and Carrie Larson of Story City. His father preceded him in death in 9105, and a sister passed away in 1912.
Those present from a distance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Larson of Winnebago, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Larson of Fairmont, Minn.; Pete Larson of Blue Earth, Minn.; Mrs. Mary Johnson and Russell of Cambridge; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Frederickson of Minneapolis; Mrs. Anna Korleski of Emmetsburg; Elnora Fredrickson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. Thurber and Mrs. Ware from Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Mortenson of Jewell; Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Wayman and family of Webster City.
