OBITUARY

Mrs. E. C. Dyvig

Anna Johanna Dyvig was born on December 17, 1888, at Story City, Iowa, and died on the 9th day of March, 1924, at Mt. Lake, reaching the age of 35 years, 2 months and 21 days. She was baptized and confirmed in the Norwegian church at Story City, Iowa. On August 28, 1913, she was married to Edwin Dyvig, at which time they resided near Stanhope, Iowa, until they moved to Butterfield [Minn.] where she lived until her untimely death.

She leaves a husband and three boys, Orlin, age 9; Clifford, age 6, and Jerome, age 4; also her father and mother Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Larson of Story City; four sisters, Mrs. Albert Jacobson of Gilbert, Mrs. Arthur Boyd of Zearing, Mrs. Joseph Hoversten of Roland, Mrs. Waltin Olson of Grand Mound; two brothers John P. Larson of Elmore, Minn., and Curnie Larson of Story City, Iowa. She is preceded by a brother, Lars Toronius in 1915, and three brothers and one sister, who died in infancy.

On Wednesday she attended the Ladies Aid at Butterfield, but Thursday she complained of feeling cold. Friday she was in bed part of the time and Saturday her condition became alarming and a doctor was called. Later in the evening another doctor was called and he ordered her immediate removal to the Mt. Lake hospital. Before leaving home she prayed with her three small sons and bade them goodbye. Upon examination it was found that septic poisoning had so completely taken possession of her body that death resulted the following morning at 9 o'clock.

She was conscious to the last and at midnight she repeated the Lord's Prayer. After this she was unable to speak but answered question by nodding her head.

The aged parents and all the sisters and brothers were present at the funeral services held at the Norwegian Lutheran church at Butterfield on Thursday afternoon. Others from a distance were: James Larson of Kelley, Herman Holland of Roland, and Lars and Swen Garvick of Elmore, Minn.

Mrs. Dyvig was of a sunny disposition, and through it, soon endeared herself to all who had occasion to meet her even though only casually. She was the life of any gathering and will be sorely missed, not only by her immediate family, where none can ever take the place of mother, but in the entire community. Her demise is a distinct loss to the community.
